A Trip to Goa
Goa is mostly known for its tourist
spots and is a hub for beaches. Situated on the southwestern coast of India,
with the Arabian Sea in the west and is the smallest state by area and fourth
smallest by population. One may find
colourful architecture, lush greenery, breathtaking beaches, and a varied blend
of Indo-Portuguese culture.
As it is on the bucket list of every
travel enthusiast, me and my cousins decided to go to Goa. Before I share my
story of Goa, let me provide a bit of information about places, and festive
seasons about Goa.
Baga
Beach is a seaside town in Bardez, known for its
popular beach and Baga Creek located at the north end of the Contiguous beach
stretch of the start from Sinquerim,
Candolim, leads to Calangute, and then to Baga.
Aguada Fort is a seventeenth-century Portuguese fort, along with a lighthouse, standing to guard against the Dutch. This old Portuguese fort stands on the beach south of Candolim, at the shore of the Mandovi River. The fort provided a water supply to the ships that used to stop by. This is how the fort got its name Aguada Water in Portuguese.
Festive Season - Goa is a colourful palette of awesome parties, Indian and Portuguese cultures, glorious Churches, seafood, busy beaches, upbeat nightlife and yoga treats. But this pint-sized Goa is much more awesome than these treasure tribes of joy because of its mind-boggling fairs and festivals. Goa Carnival time for Merry Making. A five-hundred-year-old festival. Catholics as its pre-lenten festival Catholics would maintain abstinence from meat for forty days before easter. Sao Joao Festival delights the heart. Celebrated every year on June twenty-fourth, this festival is a tribute to St. John the Baptist, the village jumps into streams, and well ponds which signifies the happiness of the St. John Baptist when Jesus was born. Shigmo Festival is celebrated to welcome the spring season. It gives the opportunity to experience Goan tradition. Folk dances in colour costumes like Divli and Ghode Modni, Gopha and Phugadi, float parades depicting regional mythology, etc are the major highlights of this fascinating colourful festival that will be spellbound and in joy. Grape Escapade - Grape Escapade is India’s greatest wine festival. It is one of the best festivals which celebrates the real spirit of Goa. Taste the best wines, lip smacking cuisines with lots of fun and entertainment. Goa Mango Festival - Goa’s agricultural directorate celebrates this festival. Numerous mangoes of various kinds are waiting to delight your taste buds and fun activities like mango eating competitions, magic shows, and cultural performances will blow your heart away.
A Trip to Goa
After proper planning, and within five days the train tickets were booked while travelling to Goa we enjoyed watching Dudhsagar waterfalls.
The next day in the morning we reached Goa then we decided to book a hotel which was near the beach after booking the hotel we reached and rested for three to four hours and decided to go to the beach at night. For me, it was a dream come true. I have never seen a beach before. While watching the beach my mind decided to just sit and enjoy the waves and cool breeze.
The next morning we woke up at 4:00 am and were ready to go on a beach tour, we took pictures, we rode and also we decided to take three vehicles for six of us so went to Crocodile Teeth shop and took a rented vehicle for five days after so much bargain the vehicle owner reduced the cost and we took the vehicle and went to explore Goa. We visited Baga Beach, Chapora Fort ( the view from the fort is so good) and Aguada Fort. While travelling an incident happened where my cousins fought with local boys and one among us decided to let it go we went back to the hotel had our dinner and rested for the day.
As we bid an adieu to this wonderful trip and I already can't wait to go back to Goa as there are much awaiting carnivals to be held this coming June. The Sao jao festival which will be held on 23rd and 24th of June is a popular festival in Goa. Iam looking forward to celebrate the festival in a village called Siolim and one can even celebrate it at Anjuna Candolim, Assagao and Calangute.
